Bennett Konesni and Edith Gawler are a wonderful couple from Maine who are bringing the "culture" back into agriculture by reviving worksongs and traditional farming music! Registry
Thank you for considering a gift to celebrate our wedding! As farmers, we have very little time to travel and get away together. We both deeply value experiencing new cultures and places, and we have a chance to take an extended honeymoon to Peru. The ‘Honeyfund’ registry listed below gives you the opportunity to gift us parts of that trip, and we would love all the help we can get in making that voyage together possible. If you prefer a traditional homemaking (or farming!) gift, check out the other registries. Of course, the greatest gift is your love and support for our marriage – thanks!

Cookie Table!
Are you unfamiliar with a Cookie Table? If so, here's a note from Sherry Jones (Sarah's Mom) to help you participate!
I think the most lovely elements of a wedding are the exchange of cultures and traditions as two families meld with each other. If you are from western Pennsylvania, as Sarah is, the Pittsburgh cookie table is an intrinsic part of our celebratory fabric. Displayed with the wedding cake are dozens and dozens of cookies prepared by the bride's and groom's family and close friends, complete with takeout boxes. No one is quite sure where the tradition started. Some say it evolved during the Great Depression as a way to combat the financial hardship of an elaborate wedding cake by distributing the burden among family members. Some claim it was a way of showcasing different ethnic sweets because Pittsburgh is such a cultural melting pot. Whatever the reason, it is a delightful tradition of celebrating family heritage. I would like to invite family and friends of the bride and groom to participate by pledging one recipe of a family favorite. Please let me know what cookie you are going to make and the origin of the recipe. For example, my Uncle Dick is famous for his pizelles and was the first to pledge. Contact me at: Sherry Jones, 412-638-0573 or [email protected] if you would like to participate. I will send you a label for you cookies and drop-off instructions. I can't wait to delight in what everyone brings! |
